A Game Changer Indeed: JDR Trochilus Harmonica

No valves-No sticking, no warming up, easier maintenance

Bonus bending-Normal bends and bends on the slide notes

Overblows and overdraws-Available for full chromatic runs or phrasing options.

New design, new experience, new track

Blues/Richter Tuning(Blue): When the slider isn't pressed, it's a traditional blues tuning. When the slider is pressed, the whole harmonica is raised by a semitone. At this time the vocal range is three octaves.

Chromatic/Solo Tuning (Yellow): It is fully tuned according to the chromatic arrangement, with a two-and-a-half-octave range, from bass do to treble so. It can play most songs without worrying about valve adhesion.

Pop Tuning(Red): When the slider isn't pressed, it's a pop tuning . Novices and 10-hole entry-level players can get started quickly. It has a complete range of three octaves, covering all semitones, and can play all repertoire.

The Trochilus is a ten-hole chromatic harmonica that took more than two years to develop.

It not only makes bending and overblowing easier than on a traditional 10-hole harmonica, but also eliminates the valve-related issues commonly found in chromatic harmonicas.

What is the difference between the JDR Trochilus (Chromatic/Solo) Tuning harmonica and the Richter Trochilus?

Compared with standard chromatic harmonicas, the Solo Trochilus has no valves, so it avoids reed sticking and is a breeze to clean and maintain. Compared with the Blues Trochilus, it features a more orderly scale layout, though it has a slightly narrower range.

Phosphor bronze reed without valve

The Trochilus harmonica's blow and draw reeds are arranged in the same up-and-down arrangement as a traditional blues harmonica with no valve obstruction.

Traprzoldal shaped comb

The shape of the comb is a trapezoid design, with a short tail and ergonomic design making it more comfortable to hold.

Portable size

The Trochilus harmonica is only ½ the size of the chromatic harmonica and has a complete range.

Exceptional Autofocus Performance

The mouthpiece has a square structure, providing greater intake space to increase the volume of the harmonica.

FAQ

Q1: Does the Trochilus harmonica lose air tightness without valves?

No. Though it has no valves, its air tightness won’t be compromised.

Q2: Why is Trochilus much smaller than ordinary chromatic harmonicas?

It only adopts a single row of mouthpiece holes, cutting its volume to half of a typical chromatic harmonica. Its dimension is 5.27 * 1.22 * 0.78 inches with a light weight of 0.28lbs.

Q3: What materials are used to make the Trochilus blues harmonica?

Its covers are crafted from 0.5mm chrome-plated copper, and sound reeds are premium phosphor bronze. The comb features a trapezoidal ergonomic short-tail shape for better grip.

Q4: What accessories come with this Trochilus harmonica set?

The package contains a Trochilus harmonica, high-grade gift box, cleaning dust cloth and detailed user introduction manual.

Best chromatic-style harp I've played

I honestly find it the best harp that I own. I've never liked the valved feeling of other chromatics and prefer the sound and feeling of regular diatonics. I've been looking for something like this for some time and this is the one.
It's well made, it sounds great and the case that comes with it is well made too (not kidding - the case is really nice compared to some of the more expensive harmonicas that I own).
The shipping was easy. It took a little while to get here (Australia) but it was sent quickly and it's a fair distance, so no problem there.
Very happy :D

Unbelievable

I’ve got a C solo tuned chromatic and it’s the coolest harmonica own. It requires less breath than any of my valved chromatics and I’ve got a bunch. Being able to bend notes opens up a whole other world of expression. It sounds like a giant special 20 but functions like a chromatic. Favorite harmonica of all time.

A very interesting instrument.

A very interesting instrument
I have just gotten my hands on this instrument, and so far the impression is very good. It is comfortably small in my hands. The slide works fine and it feels quite responsive.
The tone is good, but not quite as good as some of the diatonics I usually play. This may improve as I become more familiar with it.
