First impression is a good one! Beautifully built, feels rugged, mouthpiece is very comfortable and the sound is clear and plenty loud. I’m starting from scratch on chromatic (again!) but I will say I really like it! Even the simple noodling I’m attempting on it. I think I will be more inclined to practice with an instrument that plays so easily!

This is a good harmonica. It came well set up with all the notes sounding (the higher tones are more difficult than the lower ones, but that is pretty normal with chromatic harmonicas). The slider is smooth and quiet, and the bends are easily achieved. The only reason why I took a star off was because this harmonica is marketed as having eliminated the sound of valves, but unfortunately I still hear the valves flap on hole 2. Maybe this is a technique issue, but I am not sure. Other than that, I have no complaints.I will say that I wonder why JDR hasn't made a completely valveless chromatic harmonica yet. They clearly have the technolody to do it and make it air tight -- they have basically done a 10 hole valveless chromatic with the trochilus in solo tuning. The quartz is fine, but honestly, if there was a 12 hole trochilus in solo tuning, I'd much rather that.
