With a career shaped between hospital surgeries and performances across Brazil and around the world, Rodrigo Eberienos is one of the most respected harmonica players in the country. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he began playing as a teenager and, even while attending medical school, never let go of the instrument that would become his trademark. “Medicine sustains me, but I treat music with complete professionalism,” he says.
His latest album, Old New Stock, dives into his musical roots, blending blues classics and original ideas through arrangements that reflect his personal journey. The project features reinterpretations of blues classics with custom arrangements and collaborations with musicians who have shared his journey.
In 2025, Rodrigo made his international debut with a historic achievement: first place at the World Harmonica Festival in Trossingen, Germany, one of the most important harmonica events in the world. “It was incredible to reconnect with friends, join jam sessions until dawn, and compete with phenomenal musicians from all over the world. Winning in the Diatonic Blues/Rock/Country/Folk category brought me immense joy.”
Throughout his three-decade career, Rodrigo has lent his harmonica to countless TV soundtracks, soap operas, and comedy shows, with performances broadcast nationally across Brazil. His recordings can also be heard on albums by a wide range of artists from different genres.
On stage, he has shared the spotlight with major names in Brazilian music and performed with iconic artists like Nasi (from the legendary rock band IRA!), stepping in for Flávio Guimarães, founder of Blues Etílicos. The experience reinforced Rodrigo’s versatility and his ability to navigate different musical universes, always grounded in the language of the blues.
With 30 years of experience, Rodrigo Eberienos continues to balance art and science — bringing the same level of commitment to every harmonica solo. “Today, the harmonica is present in every genre, from jazz to classical, but I remain loyal to the blues, where my heart beats the strongest.”
